Sophomore year, I took a trend analysis class, where we had to do market research and predict upcoming trends for a particular company.

My group got Pottery Barn, and had to predict the types of fabrics, colors, and styles that would sell best in Spring/Summer 2014.  To our surprise, everything we predicted for that season in our class, actually ended up being what the company was selling that season.

This class was a great way to get hands on experience looking at the market, figuring out trends and predicting where the market is headed.  Although this assignment was for furniture, what I learned can be applied to numerous markets, and I now feel more confident in predicting trends and where market niches will go.

Below is part of my teams project and some of the information we had to find and think about when predicitng trends.
